Every month I post about some of the books that I've loved reading. I've done all the reading and filtering so you don't have to. This month's theme is finding fulfilment in your career. Here are my top three books for this.
You-Turn by Ashley Stahl
I loved this book! It's densely packed with practical tools and tips to help you discover a career path that works best for you. The author Ashley combines it with her personal story and journey making it easy to see how you might apply her tools to your own career U-turn. There's lot in here and I really encourage you to stick with it. Maybe aim to do a chapter a week, including all the exercises!
The Values Factor by John Martini
This book helped me figure out what was driving me in a really inspirational and constructive way. Imagine being able to fufill your purpose or what you perceive it to be at least. Some of the exercises in this book might feel a little challenging - for example listing 200 reasons why it is beneficial to do something but if nothing else this books helps you realise you are in many way the master of your own destiny.
The Artist's Way by Julia Cameron
I was in two minds whether to include this here or not. This is more about getting in touch with your creativity and learning not to judge it. The book has a spiritual element to it and some people might shy away from that. It's also a three month commitment and to get the most out of it, I'd stick through the full three months. If you can go along with the book without being too analytical or getting overly focussed on whether God exists or not you'll feel more
in touch with your creativity and self-express by the end. These are both fundamental for living a fulfilled
career and working-out what sort of career is for you.
And there you have it!
Let me know if you have any thoughts n these books! What else could I add.
